

Court Tired of Hearing Gossip
The USSR’s main newspaper, “Pravda”, published regular reports from Nuremberg from the first day of the Tribunal: “tassovki” – dry, though detailed daily summary reports by TASS. But the main events of the trials were reported by the most prominent writers and journalists - like Pravda’s special Nuremberg correspondent, Boris Polevoi.


Still We Stymied Him
From 13 to 22 March Hermann Göring, former president of the Reichstag, Minister-President of Prussia and the Reichsminister of Aviation was interrogated at the trial. For nine working days "Nazi no.2" was on the podium answering questions from defenders and prosecutors. Austrian Psychiatrists on Trial for Killing Hundreds of Patients
The Austrian psychiatrist Franz Niedermoser, a former chief physician of a city psychiatric hospital, and 12 of his subordinates found themselves in the dock. According to the Austrian prosecutor's office, using the Nazi practise of euthanasia of mentally disabled patients, the medical staff at the hospital killed about 250 to 400 people.

The USSR’s most famous and honoured prosecutor, who filled that important role from the time of Stalin to almost the end of the Brezhnev era (Rudenko died in 1981, Brezhnev in 1982), was in charge of the Soviet delegation at the Nuremberg trials, when he was aged only 38.
