Event: Erika Mann, daughter of writer Thomas Mann, telegraphs the London Evening Standard about events in the courtroom. Location: city of Nuremberg.

“Well over 100 foolscap pages of single-spaced documentary evidence were served today to a queue of reporters between and after sessions at the Nuremberg courthouse. The Tribunal fumbled through the same prodigious menu while US attorneys Major Frank Wallis and Thomas J. Dodd continued to present the prosecution’s case. Much of what was read seemed to apply to the rather well-known fact that Germany entered this war armed to the teeth, than to the charge that she thus armed herself for the express purpose of waging an aggressive war (...) The defendants and their counsels seemed more puzzled than impressed”.
